Joan L. Bottorff, PhD, RN, FCAHS, FAAN is a professor in the School of Nursing, University of British Columbia’s Okanagan Campus, Canada. Dr. Bottorff is one of Canada’s leading scientists in the field of health behaviour. She was the first Dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Development, University of British Columbia (UBC) Okanagan, and has been the recipient of a UBC Distinguished University Scholar Award and a CIHR Investigator Award. Currently she is the Director of Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention at UBC. She has developed active research programs in tobacco control, cancer prevention and health promotion. Dr. Bottorff is well known for her expertise in qualitative research methods. She is the co-editor of Qualitative Health Research, a leading qualitative research journal. Dr Bottorff is a high productive researcher and has published more than 150 papers and 10 book chapters. According to Google scholar, her publications have been cited more than 3000 times.
